Weeknote - May 11th 2025
Life
A pretty chill week followed by a family weekend, so not a ton to write about:
- ⚡ With crazy wind storms last year taking out our power for over a week, we decided to get a real generator. Costco had a trifuel on sale this week so we grabbed one. Will have to get a transfer switch and a natural gas line setup too though.
- 🧑💻 My journaling site tracks my location of entries and I use Apple shortcuts for tracking where I drive. This week I hooked it up to Foursquare’s Places API so I can connect longitude and latitude to physical locations, stores, etc.
- 🏒 The Seattle Kraken had their yearly “paint the ice” event where they let season ticketholders paint whatever they want on the ice before they take it down for the off-season. We’ve got every year and it’s been so fun to see my son go from crawling on the ice to walking and painting on it. They were offering tours this year so we went on one and got to see some of the behind-the-scenes for the arena.
- 📚 Finished reading Rhythm of War (310 pages this week). Honestly probably one of the roughest books I’ve read in a while. Overall it was good, but it was a drag to get through it, just a lot of dense content and worldbuilding. I’m hoping Wind and Truth (110 pages this week, 14% complete) will hit its stride soon and get some “payoff” for all that backstory.
